1. Kommende Veranstaltungen
1.1 EHP (European Humanist Professionals) Online Workshop: "Methods of spiritual counseling" – 27/11/2020 – 10-12AM
Unsere Kollegen von EHP (European Humanist Professionals) organisieren (erneut) ein Online-Seminar zum Thema "Humanistische Seelsorge". Wir möchten alle Interessierten ermutigen, an dieser Veranstaltung teilzunehmen, wenn sie sich an einem Freitagmorgen für 2 Stunden freinehmen können.

On Friday 27th the EHP will host another online seminar on humanistic chaplaincy, as a follow up on the succesfull meeting with Carmen Schumann in July 2020.
This seminar will be led by Anouk Bolsenbroek, who will give an introduction on the work of Jan Hein Mooren, who was an assistent professor at the University of Humanistics in Utrecht.
The EHP would like to support and facilitate the position of humanist chaplains, and those who are working towards humanistic chaplaincy. Therefore a solid theoretical and empirical basis, as well as debate and exchange of ideas are pivotal.
Jan Hein Mooren has written extensively about the methodology of humanistic counseling.
The seminar aims to be worthwhile for chaplains as well as for humanists who are working towards developing humanistic chaplaincy in their field of work or country.
After an introduction by Anouk Bolsenbroek about the insights that Jan Hein Mooren has developed, there will be the opportunity to discuss the insights and the questions around developing & boosting humanistic chaplaincy in. You can feel free to enter the dialogue, but you can also sponge and be silent.

1.2 AHA Lëtzebuerg Webinar: Atheism in Iran with Sina Nasiri – 03/12/2020 – 6:30-8:00PM (auf Englisch)
Nehmen Sie bitte am 3. Dezember um 18.30 Uhr an einem Webinar teil, in dem Sina Nasiri uns erzählen wird, was es bedeutet, im Iran und allgemein im Nahen Osten Atheist zu sein. 1.3 AHA (USA) Webinar: SPEAKING OF HUMANISM – 10.12.2020
Unsere Freund*innen von der American Humanist Association laden ein zu ihrem Dezember "Speaking of Humanism” Event, welches als Video-Konferenz stattfinden wird. Das ist eine gute Gelegenheit für uns dabei zu sein, ohne über den Atlantik fliegen zu müssen… Leider ist es aber eher etwas für Nachteulen, da es am Dienstag, den 10.12.2020 um 6:30-8pm ET stattfindet, was bei uns Mittwoch, den 11.12.2020 um 00:30-02:00 ist… Es wird allerdings eine Aufnahme geben, welche man sich später anschauen kann...

In this talk, Janey shares how he celebrates the season and navigates the holiday sensibilities of his religious family and traditionally conservative community in his home state of Texas.
Janey Rizvi is a founding member of The Oasis Network. He is a Pakistani-American and former Muslim who became a Humanist in 2007. Janey served on the Houston Oasis board of directors for seven years in various capacities, including marketing, governance, finance, and as the board Secretary. He serves on the Marketing committee for The Oasis Network and is a contributor for Oasis Gaming.

Wir organisieren wieder ein Online-Treffen, dieses mal für französischsprachige Menschen die in Luxemburg wohnen, egal welche anderen Sprachen Sie sonst noch sprechen können, Sie sind herzlich eingeladen sich mit uns auf Französich zu unterhalten und neue Menschen kennen zu lernen. Der 21.12.2020 ist der Tag der Wintersonnenwende, also eine gute Gelegenheit sich zu treffen.

2. Lesetipps
2.1 "The Little Book of Humanism" - Alice Roberts & Andrew Copson
Alice Roberts, Präsidentin von Humanists UK, hat vor kurzem Werbung in eigener Sache gemacht, zum Buch was sie zusammen mit Andrew Copson, Präsident von Humanists International, herausgebracht hat. Weil uns dieses Buch sehr gut gefallen hat, und vielen anderen Leser*innen auch wollen wir ihre Wort hier (aus dem Englischen übersetzt) mit Ihnen teilen:
"Seit Tausenden von Jahren kommen die Menschen der nördlichen Hemisphäre in düsteren Wintermonaten zusammen, um sich mit den Menschen, die sie lieben, zu treffen und Geschenke auszutauschen. Man kann es Julfest nennen, Weihnachten, nennen Sie es, wie Sie wollen; es ist ein altes Fest mit einer großen Bedeutung dahinter - und es bringt die Menschen wirklich zusammen.
Dieses Ethos - die Menschen zusammenzubringen - ist ein wichtiges und manchmal übersehenes Element des Humanismus. Aber es ist etwas, das Andrew Copson und ich im "The Little Book of Humanism" zu betonen versuchten.

2.2 "Sapiens: A Graphic History" - Yuval Noah Harari
Viele von Ihnen kennen vielleicht das Bestseller-Buch "Sapiens" von Yuval Noah Harari, in dem er die Geschichte der Menschheit nachzeichnete, das jeder Humanist gelesen haben sollte, um einen guten Einblick in unsere Herkunft als Spezies zu bekommen. Und jetzt: die grafische Aufbereitung von "Sapiens". Dieses Comic-Buch wurde in viele Sprachen übersetzt, so dass es das ideale Geschenk für Ihre Familie und Freunde sein könnte.
"Sapiens: A Graphic History" ist eine epische, radikale Adaption des Bestsellers Yuval Noah Harari, die vor Witz, Humor und farbenfrohen Illustrationen nur so strotzt. Den 2. Juli hate mer eisen eischte grousse Webinar vun AHA Lëtzebuerg, zum Thema "weltlech Zeremonien zu Lëtzebuerg". D'Noemie Leer an den David Kieffer hunn eis duerch den Owend gefouert. Mir hunn zesumme mat 2 Zeremoniëmeeschteren, déi hier Servicer zu Lëtzebuerg ubidden, gekuckt wéi weltlech Zeremonien zu Lëtzebuerg haut ausgesinn? Mir hunn mat hinnen iwwer déi praktesch a philosophesch Froen zum Thema geschwaat. Zum Schluss goufen Froe aus dem Publikum beäntwert.

3.2. Humanist Online After-Work Meetup – 22/10/2020
Wir hatten ein Online Meetup für englischsprache Menschen die in Luxemburg wohnen organisiert. Es war eine nette Gelegenheit um mal andere Menschen zu treffen und mit ihnen über ihre Sorgen, ihre Hoffnungnen, hier Bedürfnisser und ihre Wünsche zu reden. Es wurde der Wunsch ausgedrückt in Zukunft vermehrt auf Menschen zuzugehen, welche in Luxemburg wohnen aber kein Luxemburgisch sprechen.

Alice Roberts, President of Humanists UK, has recently promoted her own book, which she co-authored with Andrew Copson, President of Humanists International. Because we liked this book very much, and many other readers, we would like to share her words with you here:

3.2. Humanist Online After-Work Meetup – 22/10/2020
We had organised an online meetup for English speaking people living in Luxembourg. It was a nice opportunity to meet other people and talk to them about their concerns, their hopes, their needs and their wishes. The wish was expressed to meet more people in the future who live in Luxembourg but do not speak Luxembourgish.

In this talk, Janey shares how he celebrates the season and navigates the holiday sensibilities of his religious family and traditionally conservative community in his home state of Texas.
Janey Rizvi is a founding member of The Oasis Network. He is a Pakistani-American and former Muslim who became a Humanist in 2007. Janey served on the Houston Oasis board of directors for seven years in various capacities, including marketing, governance, finance, and as the board Secretary. He serves on the Marketing committee for The Oasis Network and is a contributor for Oasis Gaming.

2.1 "The Little Book of Humanism" - Alice Roberts & Andrew Copson
Alice Roberts, présidente d'Humanists UK, a récemment fait la promotion de son propre livre, qu'elle a co-écrit avec Andrew Copson, président d'Humanists International. Parce que nous avons beaucoup aimé ce livre, et beaucoup d'autres lecteurs aussi, nous voulons partager ses mots avec vous ici (traduit de l'anglais):
"Depuis des milliers d'années, les habitants de l'hémisphère nord se réunissent en plein hiver pour se rapprocher des personnes qu'ils aiment et échanger des cadeaux. Appelez ça Yule, appelez ça Noël, appelez ça comme vous voulez ; c'est une ancienne fête qui a une grande signification derrière elle - et elle rassemble vraiment les gens.
Cette philosophie - qui consiste à rassembler les gens - est un élément important, et parfois négligé, de l'humanisme. Mais c'est quelque chose qu'Andrew Copson et moi avons essayé de souligner dans "The Little Book of Humanism".
Je suis ravi que, dès la première semaine, "The Little Book of Humanism" ait été vendu dans toutes les grandes librairies indépendantes, qu'il ait atteint le sommet des hit-parades et qu'il soit devenu un best-seller du Sunday Times; c'est le premier livre sur l'humanisme à avoir atteint ce niveau. Notre livre a maintenant été réimprimé quatre fois et, à en juger par les critiques, nous avons initié de nombreuses personnes à l'approche humaniste de la vie, et encouragé de nombreux lecteurs, pendant une période très difficile.
J'aime le considérer comme un petit trésor de citations, d'histoires et d'illustrations, tirées de certains des plus grands penseurs humanistes de tous les temps. Et je pense que ce serait un beau cadeau pour quelqu'un que vous aimez. Après tout, quel meilleur cadeau pouvez-vous offrir cette année qu'un petit remontant d'hiver?

2.2 "Sapiens: A Graphic History" - Yuval Noah Harari
Beaucoup d'entre vous connaissent peut-être le livre à succès de Yuval Noah Harari, "Sapiens", où il retrace l'histoire de l'humanité, que tout humaniste devrait avoir lu pour avoir un bon aperçu de nos origines en tant qu'espèce. Entrez : l'adaptation graphique de "Sapiens". Cette BD a été traduite en plusieurs langues, ce qui en fait le cadeau idéal pour votre famille et vos amis.
"Sapiens : A Graphic History" est une adaptation épique et radicale du best-seller de Yuval Noah Harari, pleine d'esprit, d'humour et d'illustrations colorées. Mir hunn zesumme mat 2 Zeremoniëmeeschteren, déi hier Servicer zu Lëtzebuerg ubidden, gekuckt wéi weltlech Zeremonien zu Lëtzebuerg haut ausgesinn? Mir hunn mat hinnen iwwer déi praktesch a philosophesch Froen zum Thema geschwaat. Zum Schluss goufen Froe aus dem Publikum beäntwert.

3.2. Humanist Online After-Work Meetup – 22/10/2020
Nous avions organisé une rencontre en ligne pour les anglophones vivant au Luxembourg. C'était une belle occasion pour rencontrer d'autres personnes et discuter avec elles de leurs préoccupations, de leurs espoirs, de leurs besoins et de leurs souhaits. Le souhait a été exprimé de rencontrer davantage de personnes qui vivent au Luxembourg mais ne parlent pas luxembourgeois.
