Please find enclosed the report of the General Assembly held on 29 April 2026.
We are pleased to inform you of the proceedings and resolutions of the 2026 Annual General Meeting of AHA Lëtzebuerg, which took place yesterday evening at the OekoZenter Pafendall.
1. Activity Report 2025
The President gave a detailed overview of the activities of the past year. Two major focal points characterised 2025:
International networking
A highlight was the International Humanist Conference 2025 (IHC2025), at which AHA Lëtzebuerg also took part in the General Assembly of Humanists International (HI GA2025). Numerous media appearances took place in connection with this event. Furthermore, AHA was active within the framework of the European Policy Forum and the European Humanist Services Network (EHSN), including on the following projects:
- Co-signing of the Open Letter USA
- Freedom of Thought Report: Updating the entry on the situation in Luxembourg
- “Humanist Wedding Celebrants” project
- “Humanist Existential Care Services” project
Public relations and civil society
AHA also maintained a strong presence at national level:
- Monthly radio programme on Radio ARA
- Regular appearances on Radio 100.7 and RTL Radio
- Oral statement on the “interdenominational cemeteries” project
- Press release “Atheists make history with a wedding portal”
- Film evening “Sterben ohne Gott” in collaboration with LibCo a.s.b.l.
- Exchange with the Rhineland-Palatinate/Saarland Regional Association regarding Camp Quest & Evo-Kids
- Planning of a Scientific Calendar 2027 for Luxembourg
2. Planned activities for 2026
The following projects and initiatives are planned for the coming months:
- Autumn School “Humanist Existential Care” in Esch/Alzette, 26–30 October 2026
- Brochure on Humanist Wedding Ceremonies (Humanist Weddings)
- EHSN project “Humanist Funeral Celebrants”
- Brochure on Humanist Funeral Services
- Children’s book: “Dad, what is a Humanist?”
- Conference in collaboration with the Association Belge des Athées
- Continuation of the monthly radio programme on Radio ARA as well as regular appearances on Radio 100.7 and RTL Radio
- Humanist Cafés
- Campaign “Are you a Humanist too?”
3. Financial Report 2025
The Treasurer presented the annual accounts for the period 1 January to 31 December 2025:

¹ Reimbursement from Humanists International for the costs of the 2025 General Assembly in Luxembourg, which is accounted for in the 2025 financial year.
Current account balance (28 April 2026): €23,227.52
For the 2026 budget, €7,000 in revenue and €6,110 in expenditure are expected.
Report of the auditors
The auditors, Eric François and Erik Walch, have audited the accounts and found no irregularities.
Discharge
The General Assembly unanimously granted discharge to the Treasurer and the Executive Committee.
4. Membership fee for 2027
The annual membership fee for 2027 remains unchanged at €30.
5. Changes to the Executive Committee
Departing members
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to two members of the Executive Committee who are stepping down:
- Alexandre Hornbeck — We will remain in contact with him, particularly in connection with our project on humanist ceremonies in Luxembourg.
- Lex Thiel — He remains closely associated with AHA as a co-creator of our radio programme “Iwwer Gott an d'Welt”, which is broadcast every other Tuesday on Radio ARA.
Both deserve our sincere thanks for their dedicated work on the Executive Committee!
Renewal and expansion
- Tanja Frank stood for re-election and was unanimously re-elected to her post.
- Christian Meyers stood for election for the first time and was unanimously elected to the Executive Committee. A warm welcome to him!
Auditors 2026
Eric François and Erik Walch were appointed as auditors for a further year. Many thanks to them too for their valuable work!
6. Miscellaneous (Open discussion)
During the open discussion, it was suggested that a public conference be organised with Caroline Sägesser from Belgium. The topic: the public funding of religious communities and philosophical communities of belief — an area on which Sägesser has recently published a book.
Review and Outlook
The past twelve months have been formative for AHA Lëtzebuerg in many respects: the International Humanist Conference in early July and the projects of the European Humanist Services Network — humanist wedding ceremonies and humanist life support (Humanist Existential Care) — have had a significant impact on our work, as has our ongoing media presence (Radio 100.7, ARA and RTL Radio).
In the coming months, the development of humanist services will remain our focus. At the same time, we aim to raise public awareness of humanism as a worldview, inspire new people and invite them to get involved with us.
We thank everyone present for their active participation and look forward to another year together in the spirit of humanism!
